Band and Choir
Last week high school students came to show off their talents. Students were able to listen to members of choir and hear band members play. The assembly ended with the band marching around the gym!
Inertia!
Students have been learning about Isaac Newton and exploring his 3 Laws of Motion. We talked about real world example of inertia, like when you move forward in your seat when a car stops. Students also were able to use a Newton's Cradle. They modeled Newton's 3rd Law with a cup, index card, and quarter. They had to make the coin go into the cup without touching the quarter or lifting the card!
100th Day!
Students spent the first hundred days of school counting to 1! They used fractions, decimals, and percent until we reached day 100. To celebrate they played a math game using a 100s chart and area. The goal was to make arrays to cover as close to 100 square units as they could.
Then students imagined themselves as 100 years old. They drew self portraits. During an adjectives lesson, they listed words to describe themselves. The words were used in a word cloud. Check out these elderly 3rd graders!
Valentines!
Students made valentine houses and were able to open, read, and eat all of their valentines during our party on Wednesday! There was fun dip, gummy bracelet, glow stick light sabers, and much more!
